Critical Events
Expanding Product Offerings
Working at Maven Machines gave me the opportunity to explore the trucking safety space and to lead the company in starting their safety suite as a product offering. This project follows that initiative from high level research through to MVP scoping and development.
Roles and Responsibilities
Facilitating a Shared Understanding
As part of a start-up with a very young product organization, Product Design and Product Management experienced some growing pains while learning to work together effectively. I organized and facilitated a multi-day workshop to work out our expectations of each other and come to a shared understanding of our respective roles and responsibilities.
Designing MerchSearch
Working Within Design Constraints
During my tenure on the In-Store Customer Experience product team at DICK’S Sporting Goods, I was responsible for the UI and feature development of a store-associate facing application: MerchSearch. From working as a design pair to redesign the application to working as a solo designer to define and design new features, this project showcases UI skills as well as my ability to work around difficult design constraints.
IMPROVING THE IN-STORE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
User Research
As part of the In-Store Customer Experience product team at DICK’S Sporting Goods, I was also responsible for user research in my domain. This project demonstrates my ability to take a large, tangled problem space and bring focus to the top problems using a variety of research methods, prioritization techniques, brainstorming tactics, and collaboration facilitation.
PERPETUAL INVENTORY
Utilizing Design in a Technical Space
While working on an enterprise software product team with no direct user interface, I learned to apply my design skills to help my DICK’S Sporting Goods product team define consumer needs, prioritize work, and communicate complex technical ideas to business partners.
ILLUSTRATION
Exploring Visual Style
Throughout my career I have developed a wide range of illustrative capabilities. This collection shows some of my work using different visual styles.
QUARANTINE
An Exercise in Type Design
Many designers dream of developing their own typeface someday, myself among them. While this is only the very beginning of the process, I hope to continue work on this headline typeface so that it will one day become usable.
